A Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) emulator is a software program that allows a computer or other device to mimic the functionality of the original NES gaming console. The NES, also known as the Famicom (Family Computer) in Japan, was a popular 8-bit gaming console released by Nintendo in the 1980s. Emulators essentially recreate the hardware and software environment of the NES on modern devices like personal computers, smartphones, or even gaming consoles.
